Understanding the Role

What is the Democratic
Central Committee?

The Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee (DCCC) is the official governing body of the local Democratic Party. Its members are elected by Democratic voters during the primary election and serve four-year terms.

The Central Committee plays a critical behind-the-scenes role in how our democracy functions at the local level — from filling vacancies in elected office to organizing the party's grassroots infrastructure.

  • 1

    Fill Elected Vacancies

When a state or county elected official leaves office, the DCCC nominates their replacement.

  • 2

    Support Democratic Candidates

Recruit, endorse, and provide resources to Democratic candidates across Montgomery County.

  • 3

    Build Party Infrastructure

Organize voter registration drives, coordinate volunteers, and strengthen precinct-level operations.

  • 4

    Engage the Community

Host forums, town halls, and events that connect voters with their elected officials and party leaders.

  • 5

    Uphold Party Values

Ensure the Montgomery County Democratic Party reflects its commitment to equity, inclusion, and good governance.
